Media Visits
2020/21 SEASON: MEDIA VISITS
To provide you with an opportunity to experience our resorts first-hand, the following guidelines can be used to help you determine if you are eligible for a media visit during the 2020/21 winter season. All visits from media and content creators must align with our Winter Operating Plan and are subject to resort availability.
Media Hosting Guidelines:
- Must be on assignment
- Provide outline of your story angle, outlet, expected publication date
- Full Hosting Requests (any request involving accommodations) = minimum of 4 weeks advance notice
- Lift Ticket Requests = minimum of 2 weeks advance notice
Final decisions are at the discretion of the Vail Resorts Communications Team and may be dependent upon situations outside of these guidelines. Please contact us at news@vailresorts.com.
Commitment to Safety
Media should familiarize themselves with our Winter Operating Plan prior to accessing the mountain. We require all visiting media to abide by Vail Resorts safety protocols and procedures during an official media visit and this includes – but is not limited to – safety measures surrounding COVID-19, such as wearing face coverings in all areas of our operations.
Complimentary / Discounted Lift Tickets
Complimentary lift tickets may be issued to media on assignment and are subject to availability. We require that you make lift ticket requests at least two weeks in advance.
Complimentary Lodging
Depending on availability, we may be able to provide complimentary or discounted lodging to media who are on assignment and intend to write about lodging properties. Please contact us for this request at least four weeks in advance.
Holiday or Peak Periods
We do not offer complimentary lift tickets or host media during peak periods including, but not limited to, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day and Easter.
Influencer Policy
We collaborate with content creators on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us at least two weeks in advance with your specific request and share angle, social media handles, and media kit.
Filming and Photography
Filming and photo shoots require additional approvals and may require Forest Service permits and proof of insurance. Please contact us at least four weeks in advance.
For safety reasons, recreational drone use by any guest or member of the public, for any reason, is not permitted on, or over, any of our properties. Likewise, commercial use is also prohibited on Vail Resorts' property, except in limited circumstances written permission from the resort and use associated with special events, marketing and/or film and photo applications.
